CRAFTY WEDNESDAYS: TODDLER/PRE-K CRAFTS - Wednesdays at 10:30 am

   ​

Enjoy a different age-appropriate craft every Wednesday in our spacious community room following the theme of the previous day's story time! PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED to ensure that there are enough craft materials for each child:

SPANISH/BILINGUAL STORY TIME - Thursday,  April 10, at 10:30 am

Enjoy listening to stories in Spanish and English, and then work on a related craft. Please pre-register so that there will be enough craft materials for each child.

CRAFTER-SCHOOL CLUB: PAINTED WOODEN EASTER EGGS - Thursday, April 10, at 4 pm

It's time for one of our yearly favorites! Paint three wooden Easter eggs of your own and take them home in a cute container! We will be using acrylic paint pens. For students in grades K-6: RSVP REQUIRED - LIMITED TO 15 CHILDREN
 


 

 

Weekly story times will take place on Tuesday mornings, followed by weekly pre-K crafts on Wednesday mornings, both at 10:30 am in our Community Room. Reservations will be required for Wednesday crafts but not for Tuesday story times.

Children and their caregivers can enjoy stories on Tuesday mornings in our spacious community room. Themes vary every week. Registration is not required for our regular story time. Upcoming themes:

DOG MAN & WIMPY KID CHALLENGE - Thursday, April 17, at 4 pm

  

 

Calling all Dog Man & Wimpy Kid fans! Enjoy a friendly Dog Man & Wimpy Kid trivia challenge, bingo, prizes, and other surprises in celebration of the latest Dog Man and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books! Please note: This event is for children who are old enough to have read these books and be familiar with the characters/series. Limited to 15 kids - RSVP REQUIRED

 


 

CHESS CLASS FOR ALL AGES - Thursday, April 17, 6-7 pm

Learn, practice, and play the wonderful game of chess in our Quiet Room! All ages and levels welcome.

FAMILY MOVIE DAY: THE GARFIELD MOVIE - Tuesday, April 22, at 1 pm

Looking for something fun to do on a day off from school? Bring your friends and/or family to watch the 2024 Garfield Movie, an animated comedy adventure about Garfield's reunion and wild adventure with Vic, his long-lost father, and Odie, his canine pal. Each guest will receive a Garfield-themed activity packet. RSVP HERE
 


 

CRAFTER-SCHOOL CLUB: "PEEPS" CANVAS PAINTING - Thursday, April 24, at 4 pm

Learn how to paint your favorite "peeps" using acrylic on canvas board! Smocks are recommended. For students in grades K-6 - please register your child for this program only if they fall into this age group. Limited to 15 participants - RSVP HERE

 



SPRING NATURE WALK & CRAFT - Tuesday, April 29, at 4 pm
 

 

Explore and investigate spring nature on the library grounds during this special program led by  the Essex County Environmental Center, then work on a craft made of found objects from the nature walk. For ages 4 & up, limited to 20 children: RSVP HERE

 


 

MUSICAL SIGN LANGUAGE STORY TIME - Tuesday, May 6, at 10:30 am

 

Join us for a musical American Sign Language (ASL) story time/class specially designed for toddlers and pre-K children! Led by certified teacher Desiree Agrifolio, who studied Applied Behavior Analysis and ASL and has taught children with special needs as a paraprofessional in Nutley and teacher in Fairfield schools. This interactive music class teaches kids basic ASL as they sing along to favorite nursery rhymes and songs - dance along, play with shaker eggs, and enjoy other fun activities. NO RSVP NEEDED.

 


 

SCRATCH CODING CLASS FOR KIDS - Mondays, May 12-June 16
No class on Monday, May 26 - Memorial Day


Kids 7-11 can learn the coding langauge SCRATCH during this 5-week session! Participants wilil learn the basics of SCRATCH coding and will complete a project - must attend all 5 sessions. LImited to 8 participants. Also, please register for this event only if your child falls into this age group.

AFTER-SCHOOL KIDS' YOGA - NEW DATES TBA

The Mindful Nest Yoga Studio comes to the Roseland Free Public Library for another children's yoga class specially designed for ages 3 and up. Classes incorporate creativity with age-appropriate relaxation techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats; the library has some yoga mats available to borrow. 

 


 

STEM EXPLORATIONS: LEGO MINDSTORMS - NEW DATES TBA

  

New to Lego Mindstorms? Children can learn the basics of how to program/code Lego Mindstorms vehicles/robots and engage in different challenges! For students entering grades 4-6. Limited to 10 children; pre-registration is required.
